Hello!
I’m Connie Hunter-Jamison, the actual human behind Sweet Relief.
I’ve been working professionally as a brand designer since 2008; helping businesses and organisations of all shapes and sizes refine their brand and speak clearly with their visual communication.
I love solving problems; I can’t help myself. Ultimately, that’s why I’m a designer first, artist second. I’m an obsessive, detail-oriented know-it-all who cares far too much about everything. You’re welcome.
I work from my home studio on the outskirts of Belfast, N. Ireland, and when I’m not doing this I’m usually pottering in my garden, having fun with my kids or down a meme-fuelled rabbit hole.
I work lean on purpose so I can pass that value on to my clients. No bloated agency overheads here—just good ideas and good execution.
So…what’s the process?
How I work:
Design without strategic thinking is pointless.
Before I start any visual solutions, I spend a lot of time trying to understand the problem. This usually takes the form of research and workshop sessions with open-ended conversations; the best stuff is always between the lines. I listen a lot—I want to hear everything about your business; what’s important to you, your goals, what you love. Only after this do I even begin thinking of aesthetic outcomes.
When I do my job correctly I provide you with more than just visual outcomes—good visual communication provides strategic solutions that will actively improve your business.
Strategy first.
The affliction of the brand/graphic designer is being stuck behind a computer most of the time. My poor posture.
Whilst admittedly most of my work takes place on a computer, I love any excuse to get my hands physically making and doing, if the job allows it.
Whether that’s packaging that requires some bespoke printmaking, an elaborate photoshoot that requires some prop arrangement, or getting the paints out for some background textures, this is where your project is going to stand out against an onslaught of generic imagery. But that’s all talk: check out some examples of my real-life work here.
Hands-on solutions.
Aiming to do good work.
I’m a human-being first, designer second.
I have a soft spot for start-ups, SMEs and social enterprises. Do gooders and good doers. I care more about the social impact of a business than how much profit it turns over. I care about people being nice to each other. If you’re looking for a creative partner who cares about these sorts of things and you do too, we’ll probably get along.
In the meanwhile, have a peruse of some of my previous projects in the Selected Work section?
